Health and safety

Strength training is one of the best things you can do for your health, but it does put stress on your body. This page explains what SimuFit does to keep you safe and where you need a professional's help.

SimuFit is not a medical device

SimuFit provides general fitness and nutrition guidance. It does not diagnose, treat or prevent any disease, and it is not a substitute for advice from a doctor, physiotherapist or registered dietitian. Programs, whether AI-generated, templates or your own, are general training plans, not personal treatment.

Health screening

Before your first program we ask seven yes/no questions based on the internationally used PAR-Q+ questionnaire. They cover things like heart conditions, blood pressure, chest pain, dizziness, chronic conditions and medication, and bone or joint problems.

  • If you answer “yes” to any question, we recommend checking with your doctor before you start, and we keep your program conservative.
  • If you have chest pain, or a doctor has told you to exercise only under medical supervision, AI programs stay off until you confirm that your doctor has cleared you to exercise. Gentle templates remain available.
  • Please answer honestly. The screening helps us keep your program safe, but it does not replace a medical check-up.

Stop immediately and seek help if…

  • you feel chest pain or pressure;
  • you are unusually short of breath;
  • you feel dizzy or faint;
  • your heart is racing or beating irregularly;
  • you feel sharp joint pain or sudden pain that is not ordinary muscle effort.

If symptoms are severe or do not ease with rest, call the emergency number (112 in Finland and across the EU). Muscle soreness a day or two after training is normal; sharp or worsening pain is not.

Pregnancy and after childbirth

During pregnancy we offer only our Prenatal-Safe Basics template, and only after your doctor or midwife has cleared you. After childbirth, return to training gradually and ask your maternity clinic or a physiotherapist for advice, especially about pelvic floor and abdominal recovery.

Injuries and limitations

When you tell us about injuries or limitations, SimuFit avoids exercises that load them and makes your program more conservative. This is not rehabilitation. If you are recovering from an injury or surgery, agree on your training with a physiotherapist or doctor. If something you write sounds like a medical issue, the app will ask you to see a doctor before training.

Younger users

SimuFit is for people aged 16 and over, and 16- and 17-year-olds need the consent of a parent or guardian. Younger lifters should focus on good technique rather than heavy weights, sleep enough and eat a varied diet. A coach or PE teacher is the best help for learning technique.

Nutrition guidance is not medical advice

Energy and protein targets are estimates based on general formulas. They are not suitable as such if you have, for example, diabetes, kidney disease, an eating disorder or another condition that affects your diet. In that case, talk to your doctor or a registered dietitian. We only mention well-studied basics such as creatine and protein powder. We never recommend prescription drugs, steroids, SARMs or fat burners.

Training safely

  • Warm up before every session.
  • Learn technique with light weights before adding load.
  • Use safety bars or a spotter for heavy bench press and squat sets.
  • Check that the equipment is in good condition.
  • Rest enough. Deload weeks are in your program for a reason.

Your responsibility

You train at your own risk and within your own abilities. If you are unsure about your health, talk to a health professional before you start. Questions: [email protected].
